Creating New Records

New Records may be created on entering a database in Calm, or from within a database, or via the tree menu.

To create a new record on entering a database:

  • From the main menu select the Archive, Local Studies or Museum menu button
  • Select the database you wish to add records to
  • Select the New option as appropriate, for example New Record, New Enquiry, New Location
  • Depending on the database you have chosen, you may see a list of the defined record types. Select the required record type by clicking on it, then click OK (or click OK to accept the type that is currently highlighted)
  • The database will open with a new record displayed on the screen
     
To create a new record with an existing record on the screen:
  • Click the Record > button in the side button strip
  • Depending on the database you are in you will see a variety of options to be used with this record, for example New, Clone, Copy and Delete
  • Click the New button in the side button strip
  • Depending on the database you are in, you may see list of the defined record types. Select the required record type by clicking on it, then press OK (or press OK to accept the type that is currently highlighted)
  • The new record appears

To create a new record via the tree menu:

  • With the tree open, right click to access the tree menu and select the type of record you require.
