Hosted

A hosted configuration is technically just a standalone configuration. The only difference is that the copy of Calm sits on a server hosted by Axiell which multiple users at your organisation can log on to at once using Windows Remote Desktop. Calm and all of your Calm files will exist on an Axiell server, instead of your own servers.

This means that if you want to run a mail merge report, there must be a copy of Microsoft Office on the hosted system (or you will have to copy the template file and the output file generated by the report from the hosted desktop to your local desktop to finish the merge).

Set up a Connection to a Hosted System

You should only have to do this once per computer or user to set up the connection. After that, each user should be able to log in as per the last two steps.

  • Open the program Remote Desktop Connection

  • In the line called 'Computer', enter the server address provided to you by Axiell

  • Click 'Show Options' at the bottom left

  • Click the 'Advanced' tab

  • Click the 'Settings' button in the 'Connect from anywhere' section

  • Click the button to the left of 'Use these RD Gateway server settings'

  • In the line called 'Server name' below it, enter the address for the remote desktop provided to you by Axiell

  • Click the 'OK' button

  • On the confirmation screen, tick 'Don't ask me again for connections to this computer' and click the 'Connect' button

  • Enter the username and password provided to you by Axiell. The username should be preceded with 'Axiell.net\' (e.g. Axiell.net\John.Smith)

  • Note: You will only need to add 'Axiell.net\' the first time you log in. Every subsequent time it should be added automatically.

  • You will now be logged in to the hosted server with your copy of Calm on the desktop

Log off of a Hosted System

Remember, when you are using Calm on a hosted system, Calm is running on a different computer. Therefore, to quit, you must both exit Calm and log off of the hosted system. If you only log off, Calm will still be running (although you will only see it if you log in again), and if you only quit Calm, the hosted system will still be logged in (although it will log you out if you shut down your computer). To log off (once you have exited Calm):

  • Click the 'X' at the top right of the bar at the top of the screen (as shown below)

Alternately, you can log out by clicking the start button as you would in your own copy of Windows.
