Cross database searching

Searches for your term in every text field of the records in each database. You determine which databases are included. Please note: this type of search will not search in non-text fields, such as date, number, or tree fields. Please note: At present, this type of search does not support wildcards.

  • Use the Cross-database Search option on the Administration Menu, to list which databases should be included in a cross database search.

To perform a cross database search:

  • Go to a record in any database (the cross database search is available from every database).
  • Press the Button with magnifying glass button in the tool bar.

  • Enter your search term and press OK.

  • The results dialogue box will be displayed. The following example shows the results of a search for the term 'black':

A list of your chosen databases is shown, the number next to each indicates the number of records found which contain your search term.

  • There is also a button displayed for each database where hits were found. Click on the database button to see the search results (records) for that particular database.
