Level Sub-series
AdminBiogHistory Parish of St Lawrence, Hungerford, Berkshire.

Formerly part of the bailiwick of Ogbourne. The church at Hungerford was given to the Abbey of Bec Hellouin in Normandy by the earl of Leicester and was held by the monks until 1421, together with the rectory manor. The rectory was acquired by the Dean and Canons of Windsor ( D & C ) in 1421, following the suppression of alien priories. The D & C also acquired arable land in Hungerford called Goodwin's Coppice.

Today, the benefice of Hungerford with Denford remains in the sole gift of the D & C.
