Field Comments

If you are unsure of the intended use of a field you can check to see if that field has been given a "comment" which tells you how the field should be used. Field comments contain information that should act as a prompt, to help you input the appropriate content into a particular field and can include rules from standards such as ISAAR and ISAD (G).

Field comments "pop up" as you rest your mouse pointer over fields; however a static view of the comment may be accessed by placing your cursor in the field in question and choosing the View Comment option from the Field drop down menu, or by using the keyboard shortcut CTRL+F1.

It is possible to stop the field comments from appearing by using the Show Field Tips option from the View, Options menu in Calm. If you change this option you will need to restart Calm to see the change take effect.

Field comments may be added, removed or altered using the Admin program.
