Catalogue
The catalogue is the core database of the Calm system, and is used to house a descriptive record for every object in your collections.
The catalogue database contains fourteen record types which are designed for the cataloguing of different types of material and information.
Record types may be classified as being Archive, Local Studies Library or Museum. The default Local Studies Library record types are Book and Serial, however you can classify other record types as Local Studies Library record types and make them available for use via the Local Studies menu.
For Local Studies Library use the most important record types are:
- Book: used to catalogue individual books
- Serial: used to catalogue journals and other serialised publications
- Article: used for cataloguing individual articles from a publication
Both Book and Serial are classified as Local Studies Library record types by default. You may also decide to classify Article as a Local Studies Library type.
