Trees

Most of the databases in Calm provide a “tree view” facility. The tree views provide a hierarchical view of all the records in a collection or group; this enables you to subdivide material into discrete hierarchical groups and link related records together.

There are two types of tree available in Calm: the Joins tree shows links between the current record and those in other databases, while Field Trees are hierarchical groups of records created by the use of a Tree Field. The structure of the data in a tree field dictates the place of a record in a tree hierarchy.

Field Trees can also be used to create and manipulate records using options from the Tree Menu. In addition, it is possible to drag and drop branches in a tree view to alter the hierarchy. The tree will scroll as the cursor is dragged. This allows branches to be dragged beyond what is visible on screen.

This section contains pages on the two types of Calm Tree, and the Tree Menu.
