Read only fields
Read only fields are fields in Calm records which cannot be edited manually. They are completed automatically by Calm, as when you link one record to another. For example, if you link a Catalogue record to a record in the Place database the Place Code field will be inserted into your catalogue record and completed with the unique Code from the linked record. This field will be read only in the Catalogue record and is used to create a link between the Catalogue and Place records.
The contents of a read only field will appear to be "greyed out" and cannot be deleted, but may be removed or altered when you change or remove the link to the record in question.
Some read only fields also appear as "linked" records at the bottom of a Calm record when you have linked records from different databases together. If you have linked more than one record, the read only fields that are shown are those from the first linked record.
