Linking a Catalogue Record to an Image Record

Image records may be linked to catalogue records in order to “index” them with relevant metadata and to provide an illustrative image.

When a catalogue record is linked to an image record a Thumbnail field is added to the Catalogue record displaying the linked image. An ImageId field is inserted into the Catalogue record displaying the unique Id number of the linked Image record. The ImageId field creates the link between the two records.

Authority files, including the optional add-on databases Images and Performances, are linked to catalogue records from the Catalogue database. Archives and Local Studies Libraries link catalogue records to authority files using the Authorities button in the side button strip and Museums use the Associated button in the side button strip.
