Default Content Fields

You may wish to set default content for a field where it always, or almost always, has the same content in every record in a database; for example the Repository field in the Catalogue database might contain the name of your institution in every record. In this case you may choose to set a default content for the field to ensure that the name is consistently entered and to save time when entering data. Setting default content means that whenever a new record is created, the field in question is automatically completed with the default content; for example the Repository field is completed with the name of your institution. Default contents may be deleted from a field and alternative text typed if wished.

Default contents may be set or removed using the Admin program. A field may be given both default content and a Picklist.
