Complete Field List

The following default record types are provided: Place and UseRef. These samples show the default fields supplied with Calm in the default order. Please note: the sample records will open in a new window, when you have finished and wish to return to this page, use the cross in the top right corner to close the window.

There are several ways in which you may customise the default Calm record types. For example, you can add or remove fields from the record types or change the order in which fields are displayed in the templates using the Admin program.

The following is a list of all fields available for the Places database; this includes the fields that are provided as part of the default templates plus a pool of additional fields which you may use to customise the record types.

Area1 Line of text field
This is an authority-controlled field.
This field can be re-labelled using the Admin program. For example: rename to District.
Can be left blank. When the terms are translated into a PlaceEntry, blank fields will be ignored.
Area2 Line of text field
This is an authority-controlled field.
This field can be re-labelled using the Admin program. For example: rename to Parish.
Can be left blank. When the terms are translated into a PlaceEntry, blank fields will be ignored.
Area3 Line of text field
This is an authority-controlled field.
This field can be re-labelled using the Admin program. For example: rename to County.
Can be left blank. When the terms are translated into a PlaceEntry, blank fields will be ignored.
Area4 Line of text field
This is an authority-controlled field.
This field can be re-labelled using the Admin program.
Can be left blank. When the terms are translated into a PlaceEntry, blank fields will be ignored.

This is an authority-controlled field.
This field can be re-labelled using the Admin program.

ChangedFrom Identifier field
This is a read only field.
You will receive an error message if you try to save a Place record with more than one ChangedFrom field, if the One-per-record validation option is set in the Record drop down menu.
This is a unique field.
ChangedTo Identifier field
This is a read only field.
You will receive an error message if you try to save a Place record with more than one ChangedTo field, if the One-per-record validation option is set in the Record drop down menu.
This is a unique field.
Class Line of text field

A unique number, the next available number (including your own prefix and suffix if required, the default prefix is 'NA') is automatically assigned from the Admin program.
