Add Above
The Add Above facility is available under the
button in the
Button Strip,
as well as from the
Tree Menu.
This allows you to create a higher level in a tree than that of an existing record, however:
THIS OPTION DOES NOT CREATE RECORDS. IT ADDS BLANK NODES OR LEVELS INTO THE TREE REFNO HIERARCHY AND RE-NUMBERS AUTOMATICALLY ANY DEPENDENT OR LINKED RECORDS.
Add above is a powerful feature and should be used with caution. Please ensure that you mean to make changes before you carry them out.
If you wish to create a level in the tree above an existing record:
- Select the record in the tree that you wish to add an additional level above
- Right click on the record and click on Add Above.
- You will be asked to provide a node; the text you type here will form the basis of the new RefNo.
For example if you have a record with the reference 2903 and added a level above it, calling the node ABC, the new level would be ABC and the RefNos of all records below it would automatically be updated with a prefix of ABC/ so 2903 would become ABC/2903 and 2903/4 would become ABC/2903/4. However there is NO record created with RefNo=ABC.
NB: In the ObjectNumber field, the '.' would be used as a level separator.
When working with Archive record types in the Catalogue database the Add above facility is also available from the button strip. To access the Add Above facility from the button strip:
