Performances module

The Performance module is an add-on to the standard Calm ALM system. It consists of three separate databases: Works, Performance and Roles. The records in these databases may be linked to each other and also to certain Calm Authority file records. Records in the Performance database can be linked to catalogue records.

Works database

This is used to record information about pieces of creative work; for example, a work could be created for the play The Lady and the Van by Alan Bennett.

Work records may be linked to performance records, they may also be linked to records in the Calm Authority file databases: Name and Place.

Performance Database

This is used to store information about specific performances of creative works, such as the venue, company and orchestra involved. Some users may choose to store work and role information, as well as performance information, on these records. In this case the Performance record type may be customised accordingly using Admin.

Performance records can be linked to both role and work records in the Performance database, and also to Name, Place and Subject authority file records in Calm.

Roles database

The role record is a simple one designed to store name-role combinations. A person may have many entries in this database but each name-role pair will be unique. For example Lawrence Olivier may be recorded in the following ways:

Lawrence Olivier – Hamlet
Lawrence Olivier – Othello
Lawrence Olivier – Director

Role records may be linked to Performance records in the performance database; they may also be linked to records in the Calm Name authority file.
